Lakeland - Susan Lynn Kelly, 51, passed away peacefully at home on February 1, 2016 after a valiant fight with ovarian cancer. Susan is survived by her husband of 25 years, Daniel Kelly, and their two daughters, Meghan (18) and Er Read Obituary
I was so thankful that Sue always accepted me into her circle of friends that had known each other for so many years. She was so kind. I only wish I had met her earlier in life to have benefitted from so many memories of her. Rest in peace, Sue. You've done all that God wanted and now he's called you home to be one of his angels. Sue was such a happy joyous person to be around. She always had such nice things to say about my boys. She will be missed by everyone she touched.
When we moved to Lakeland 15 years ago, Sue and Debbie were the first neighbors to welcome us here. They invited me to join their Mom's group which was a lifeline for me not knowing anyone here, for that I will forever be grateful. We had some great times with our kids and also fun times with just us Mom's. Sue was probably the most genuine person I have ever known. She beamed a great light of truth and quality, and had an awesome sense of humor. Our family will miss seeing 'Miss Sue.' Dan, Meghan and Erin you are always in our thoughts and prayers. Our family shared volleyball with the Kelly family at Resurrection and at Santa Fe. I enjoyed watching our girls play with Sue, she had such a passion for the game and for the girls. Her outlook was always positive - both in life and sports! I admire her grace and strength during the past few months and pray for her family. The sidelines will feel very empty without her. We extend our deepest and heartfelt sympathy to Dan, Meghan and Erin.

Sue was an amazing person that had a great impact on our whole family. Sue was a good friend to me always giving me great advice whether it was on how to support our girls during their volleyball seasons or the creative ways to sell more Girl Scout Cookies! I will miss her wonderful loving spirit. Ed really enjoyed getting to know Sue over the past 2 years of coaching volleyball together. She instill her love and passion for the game onto Ed. He loved finally getting to talk with someone who also loved volleyball as much as he did and understood it!! Caroline shared with us how she was so encouraged by Sue during her time playing volleyball for her at RCS. Sue would let her know she was doing good in her new positions on the court and Caroline now believes in herself. Thanks Sue!! We loved Sue and will miss her. Dan, Meghan and Erin you are in our thoughts and prayers.

There are just not enough beautiful words in our language to describe the beauty of Sue Kelly. Outside, but more importantly, inside, she embodied beauty, grace, love and a Christian spirit. I am privileged to have been her friend - over and above being her co-worker - for the past seven years. During her illness we talked and hugged, and laughed and cried. I wouldn't trade any of the time I spent with her for anything. She faced the cancer with fierce determination and prayed to win the battle. Her greatest fear was not death, but leaving her girls and Dan. She cherished her role as a wife and mother. What an example for Meghan and Erin and all who knew and loved her.
My husband, Gary, and I truly thought of Sue and her family as part of our own. Our deepest sympathies and prayers for peace and healing go out to all.

Memories of Sue...
They span 12 years when Jen and Meghan first met at Resurrection Catholic School. We laughed a lot, we rolled our eyes a lot.. at games, school events, lunches, etc..Sue had a way of making your heart lighter. She is someone I admire, trusted, she was my friend and I'll valued that friendship. She carried herself with grace in her fight with cancer. Every time we visited with each other, we laughed, about stupid things, but we laughed.. it was good for both our souls..
She will be missed, never forgotten and her spirit will live on....
Dan, Meghan and Erin I was proud and honored to call your Mom my friend...She was a special lady..
