I served with Russell during Desert Storm. He was a good man. I am so sorry for your loss.

I was Russ' Chaplain when we served together with the 317th Combat Engineer Battalion at Eschborn, Germany. Russ was also my friend and am saddened by his passing. Russ loved Jesus and was an integral part of our chapel community and even said he liked my sermons! He also had a witty sense of humor. I recall on instance of this when he brought an empty covered dish to one of our chapel dinners. His comment was, "Well you didn't say we had to have any food in the covered dish!"
I'm attaching a photo taken somewhere in Saudi on Christmas Eve 1990.
My condolences to the family of SPC Russell Futch and it came as a shock to me. I was his platoon leader in Germany, Lieutenant Allen Ko from Bravo Company, 317th Engineers and I worked with Russell from when he arrived. I am attaching two photos of him and remember he was a man of great conviction, morals and truly an all-around great guy. I have posted a tribute to Russ on our 317th Engr Bn FaceBook page. I found out from our Chaplain Rupel today (11/30/2020) of Russ' passing and I am very saddened to read of this news. He was a great person!! My sincerest condolences, Allen Ko, San Antonio, TX [email protected]
Our deepest sympathy for your loss. Russell was a kind person Kevin and I always enjoyed sitting and talking with him when we were staying with our Daughter. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. Know that we will be there with you in prayer.
