Nettie Mae Bartlett's Obituary
Nettie Mae Bartlett, 95, passed away at her home in Lakeland on Monday, August 26, 2024. Nettie was born June 6, 1929 in Lake Wales, Florida to the late Jessie and Mammie Mae Gilbreath.
In 1951, she married Perry M. Bartlett, and they were married for 67 years when Perry passed away on March 22, 2019. She worked for Winston Elementary School for 17 years while raising her 8 children. She was very active as a church clerk, Sunday School teacher, and a Deacon’s wife at Davis Ave. Baptist Church, which she attended faithfully for 39 years.
In addition to her parents and husband Perry, Nettie is preceded in death by brothers Edwin and Cople Gilbreath; an infant twin sister; sister Nellie Lineberger stepbrother Alroy Waters; and grandson Jesse Robbins.
Nettie was a loving mother to James Bartlett, Willie Bartlett, Wanda Bartlett, Glenda Kelley, Sarah Bartlett, Jesse Bartlett, Perry Bartlet, and Betty Whipple. In addition to her children, she is survived by 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Visitation and funeral service will be held at New Home Baptist Church on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. Visitation from 10:00-11:00 AM, with service to immediately follow at 11:00 AM. Nettie will be privately laid to rest alongside her husband Perry at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Nettie’s memory to Good Shepherd Hospice in Lakeland.
