Landon L. Anderson's Obituary
Landon Langford Anderson 10/19/1991-09/02/2019
Memories cascade down reminding me of Landon and happier times. Landon was a very energetic little boy. Some of his favorite activities were playing Legos, transformers, toy cars and trains, trucks and a variety of other toys. Bath time was always a time of experiments. He loved to create formulas, and then actually mix shampoo, crème rinse, liquid soap and whatever else together to create concoctions which he would then want us to smell and pour in our hands, Bath and Body Works had not come into play yet. He loved to pretend shave with his dad. They would lather up and shave away.
Landon loved to play sword fight. His fencing partner was “Bucky” the goat that we had raised as a bottle-fed baby. Bucky used his horns as swords and Landon would use plastic swords or sticks. They would play for endless hours dueling together. Landon loved to go fishing. Shoot bb guns and hike through the woods. Youth soccer was a huge part of his world. Saturdays were busy playing games throughout the county. Landon learned to read at a young age. Because of wonderful teachers in his life he did very well in his studies. Landon was a very good singer and sang in the Kathleen Senior High Chorus. He also sang with the KHS ensemble. Landon was a member of the KHS wrestling team. He did very well and enjoyed the sport. He received his high school varsity letter. He graduated from Lake Gibson High School. He loved paint ball. He was a very caring and loving person even at a young age.
One of Lardons major accomplishments was when he joined the United States Navy. He completed basic training at Great Lakes, Chicago. He was selected as the Top Sailor Award Winner in his Basic class. This was out of over 800 recruits.
During his naval career, Landon traveled the world. To such destinations and Port of Calls such as Chile, Turkey, Brazil, Strait of Hormuz, Suez Canal, Egypt, Japan, Philippines, Thailand, Peru, southern seas and the Mediterranean. Landon was assigned the VFA 147, Striker Fighter Squadron which attached to the different fleets. The planes that were normally attached were F18 jets. The carriers that he was deployed to were; The George Bush, Ronald Reagan, Abraham Lincoln and the Stennis.
Landon was known to have a big and caring heart for others. He had a compassionate heart towards helping other individuals which included helping a homeless man get home in a distant state by buying him a bus ticket home. Another time he spent a night with another homeless person on the street to protect him. Landon gave witness to the fact that he knew Jesus, the way, the truth and the life. His soul was assured to live in eternity in heaven. We will see him again.
Brave soldier, You fought a Brave battle in many ways.
You will be missed by the survivors
But will inspire and encourage others to be witnesses to
Fight for the way, the truth and the life.
Landon is survived by his father and mother, Dave and Laura (Mosley) Anderson and brothers Samuel Dawson Anderson, Derek and David Anderson; wife Sylvia Ruth Anderson; sons Landon, Orion and Logan Anderson; Grandparents Samuel Drexel Mosley and Aubry Jeannette Mosley.
