Ms. Joy Hawkins' Obituary
Joy Winona Morris Hawkins, born to Martha and Wayne Morris, entered this world on July 2, 1932, surrounded by the love of her family. She was the cherished sister of Jacqueline Morris, Pamela Morris, and Jimmy Wayne Morris. On January 19, 1950, she embarked on a lifelong journey with Donald Lee Hawkins, and their love endured for an incredible 73 years.
Joy's life was blessed with the delights of motherhood, and she leaves behind a legacy of love in her children: Martha Jane (Deceased), Patricia Ann (John O’Neal Jr.) of Mulberry, FL, Donald Richard (Julie/Deceased) of Umatilla, FL, and Donna Louise (Deceased). Her family extended to include 5 grandchildren: Shannon Simmons (Scotty) of Mulberry, FL, Heather Fuentes (Greg) of Mulberry, Kelly Box (Dennis) of Summerfield, FL, Travis Cahill (Susan) of Ocklawaha, Brian Hawkins of Lady Lake, FL, and Donald Albritton (Jamie). In addition, she was the beloved great-grandmother of 16 and the proud great-great-grandmother of 4.
Joy devoted her life to creating a warm and loving home as a dedicated housewife. Her hands skillfully crafted delicious meals, and her sewing needle wove threads of love into every piece she created. As a reader, she found solace and pleasure in the pages of books, and her melodious voice filled the air as she sang with passion and love, especially in worship.
Joy shared countless moments of excitement watching football, baseball, and NASCAR races alongside her beloved husband. Her unwavering commitment to her faith was evident through her active participation in church life. Over the years, she generously shared her voice as a member of the church choir, served as a Sunday School teacher, and guided the youth as a sponsor. For approximately 32 years, Joy was a cherished member of Lone Oak Baptist Church, where her faith and love for her community shone brightly.
Joy Hawkins touched the lives of many with her kindness, warmth, and unwavering faith. Let us remember the beautiful tapestry of her life, woven with love, faith, and countless cherished memories. May her memory live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
