Joseph L. Murray Sr.'s Obituary
Joseph L. Murray, Sr., died October 26, 2018. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland on July 1, 1947, and was a graduate of Cleveland State University. He resided in Lakeland, Florida since 1992, where he worked for the State of Florida assisting military veterans finding employment. He retired in 2009, and in his retirement, enjoyed traveling and spending time with his large family.
Mr. Murray served in the U.S. Army from 1967 through 1971, and was stationed on the DMZ in Korea as a linguist. He was a life-long member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans. Mr. Murray was also very active in the Kangwha-Do veterans' group. Mr. Murray is survived by his wife and partner of forty-seven years, Ava Murray (Hobbs); children Katherine Murray, Kellie Hawk (Murray), Kimberly Trippi (Murray), Joseph Murray, Jr., and Erinn Murray; grandchildren Ariel Murray, Alex Trippi, Owen Trippi, Laura Trippi, Adam Trippi, Rhys Murray, and Abraham Murray. He is predeceased by his grandson, Caleb Kinsman. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 30, 2018, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Gentry Morrison Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Road, Lakeland, Florida 33801. Funeral services will be conducted immediately following at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment services will be held on October 30, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida 33513.
