Dear Paul, Kim, and Family,
I was so saddened to hear about the loss of such a beautiful soul.
I had the joy of spending time with and caring for Joann for almost a year, and I carry with me countless memories that still bring a smile to my face. Joann was one of the kindest, most gentle, brilliant, gracious, and classy people I’ve ever had the honor of knowing. She absolutely adored animals of all kinds and her face always lit up anytime she spotted a sweet little critter.
We loved watching the birds and turtles together, admiring the blooming flowers in the neighborhood, and enjoying the simple beauty of nature. She had such a lovely singing voice, and I cherished playing her favorite songs while she taught me the words...
"… Fish gotta swim, birds gotta fly
I gotta love one man 'til I die
Can't help loving that man of mine."
The love she and Paul shared was something truly special—deep, joyful, and inspiring. They were perfectly made for each other, and witnessing their connection was a gift in itself.
My heart goes out to Paul, Kim, and the entire family. Joann touched so many lives with her warmth and grace. I feel incredibly honored to have called her a friend.
Our ice cream dates were some of my favorite times together—we’d talk about life, laugh, and just be present. One time, we went for a walk around her neighborhood and she said she was on the hunt for a man for me. I reminded her I was married already and we had a good laugh.
She’d smile at me with so much love in her eyes, and every night I left, she’d give me a big hug, kiss my cheek, and tell me she loved me. What I wouldn’t give for just one more sweet hug.
With all my love and deepest condolences,
Stephanie Doyle
