Harold L. Key Jr.'s Obituary
Harold Lewis Key, Jr., 68 years of age, passed away peacefully in Lakeland, Florida, on April 8, 2026. He was born on September 22, 1957, at the Morrell Memorial Hospital, n/k/a Lakeland Regional Health Medical Center, in Lakeland, Florida, to Harold Lewis Key, Sr. and Cordea “Corky” Boyd Humphreys.
Harold was married to Joan Key, who predeceased him. He and Joan had two daughters, Deborah Jean and Rachel Marie, both of whom predeceased him. Harold is survived by his mother, Cordea “Corky” Humphreys, of Lakeland, Florida, and his brother, Stanley Melvin Key, of Collierville, Tennessee. He is also survived by one nephew, Stephen Key, also of Collierville, Tennessee.
Harold was a proud member of the United States Army. During his years at Lakeland High School, Harold participated in the R.O.T.C. program. He went on to serve in the U.S. Army for 12 years, and he retired from the military as a Sergeant. He served his foreign assignment in Germany. After retiring from the Army, Harold worked locally as a warehouse manager and then as an employee of Saddle Creek Corporation. Harold was a member of the Gibsonia Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for his entire life. He served a temple worker, along with many other callings and assignments during his lifetime.
A Memorial Service for Harold will be held on Sunday, April 12, 2026 at 6:00 P.M. at the Gibsonia Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1839 Gib-Galloway Road, Lakeland, Florida 33810. After the Memorial Service, everyone is invited to a visitation with family and friends in the Cultural Hall. Light refreshments will be served.
