Carla Sue Bryan
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away on February 14, 2025, at the age of 78.
Born in Welch, West Virginia to Leo and Anna Quesenberry. Carla graduated high school in Iaeger (pronounced Yeager), West Virginia in 1964. She earned a bachelor’s degree in teaching at Concord College in Concord, West Virginia in 1968. She taught elementary school for six years in West Virginia, then moved to Winter Haven, Florida in 1974 where she taught for twenty-eight years at Wahneta Elementary. Carla married Jerry Bryan in 1981, they spent 44 loving years together.
Carla loved reading, walking, hiking, and biking. She loved the outdoors and swimming in her pool. She enjoyed visiting relatives and going to Sanibel Island with her husband Jerry. At any family event, she always interacted with and played with the children, hide ‘n seek, dancing and playing games like Rummikub. She loved singing in the choir, worship and fellowship at Victory Church where she and Jerry are members. She enjoyed leading the women’s Bible study and the Praying Moms class. She loved being an alter worker.
Carla will be deeply missed by her loving husband Noah Jerry Bryan, her son Ross Shaw and wife Lourdes, her daughter Shellie Arnold and husband Stephen, her sisters Dawn Anna Porter of West Virginia, Lea Kate Ott and husband Don of California, Tina Faith Careaga and husband John of Georgia, her grandchildren Sierra, Bethany, Jordan, Aaron, Adam, and Stephanie, six great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephew, and cousins.
Her infectious smile and loving nature will be missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 11:00 am, Victory Church.
