Beverly Jean Collins' Obituary
Beverly Jean Collins (Williams), affectionately known as "Mom" and "Nana," passed away on July 23, 2024, in Port Charlotte, FL, at the age of 68. Born on February 13, 1956, in Dothan, AL, Beverly was the loving soulmate of Stephen "Clay" Collins, Sr., and a cherished mother and grandmother.
Beverly's life was marked by her spirited character and her culinary prowess. Renowned for her southern cooking, she could always be found preparing a feast whenever family was expected, her dishes brimming with butter, salt, and LOVE. Beverly's laughter was contagious, and her home was a hub of joy, filled with the sounds of puzzle pieces clicking into place and Monopoly money rustling, as she always insisted on being the banker. Despite her self-professed terrible lying skills, she was a formidable opponent in a Nerf gun battle, often playing the double agent.
Her home also housed an unintended collection of Dreamsicles, a testament to her children's affection, and the infamous Nana jar, perpetually stocked with sugary treats for her grandchildren and especially for Clay. Beverly was not much into video games but played a crucial role as the navigator for the characters Clay controlled, ensuring the adventures continued.
Beverly is survived by her soulmate, Stephen "Clay" Collins, Sr.; her daughter, Stephenie Collins and Jens Rammelmeier, and their son, Toby; her daughter, Brandy Sheldon, husband Jesse, and their children, Kolbi and Jace; her son, Stephen Collins, Jr., and his husband, Jeff; and her sister, Sue Williams. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Jerline Williams, and her sister, Teresa Bush.
The family invites friends and loved ones to join them in a celebration of Beverly’s life at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes, Southside Chapel, located at 1727 Barrow Road, Lakeland, Florida, 33801. The compassionate professionals at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes are assisting the Collins family during this time. Beverly's memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched with her warmth, humor, and generosity.
