I met Beverly on the first day of 3rd grade and we were the best of friends.
We had sleep overs at each other's homes more times than I can remember.
Oh the adventures we had together, and the memories we made!!!
We would put coins on the railroad tracks by her house, and thought they were treasures when they got flattened by the train
.
My brothers enjoyed trying to play tricks on us or scare us.
We would be mean to her sister Teresa by pretending to have a conversation, but we were just making up words, so that Teresa couldn't read our lips.
I thought it was cool that she had a big sister, because I was the big sister in my family.
We would walk from Beverly's house on Olive Street, to Wabash Shopping center. That sounds insane nowadays. Sometimes they had little fair type things set up there, and that was quite the adventure.
We even walked from my house on Swindell Rd to a diner on County Line Rd. What were we thinking? We had permission! (what were they thinking?)
We snuck one of her Dads camel (no filter) cigarettes and smoked the end with the picture off. Her Dad caught us and swore up and down that we were smoking pot cause it looked like a joint!
After we were older we sent each other birthday cards every year. I sure will miss that too. I've been looking through the old yearbooks too.
Too-too-too many crazy stories to tell here, but I'm enjoying thinking of all of them.
