I met Bill in 1967. It became a life changing event for me. Prior, I had been employed in many unfulfilling positions trying to find my place in life. I was hired to work with Bill without having met him. When I did, I found a lifelong friend and a career. Bill was my tutor. He taught and showed me how to be a success in newspaper advertising sales. We worked as partners and we were really good. Then, as he promised the first day I met him, Bill moved to Florida, having secured a position at the Tampa Tribune. His departure was tougher for me than I expected but I did ok. Then, several months later, I got a call from him urging me to apply to the Tampa newspaper because they were expanding into a very competitive area in Florida. Because of Bill, I had my first ever plane trip and soon, a new job. Bill continued to assist me with my training and sales knowledge until I moved to the new territory. We have maintained our friendship ever since. Because of Bill, I enjoyed a career and retired from the newspaper industry like Bill did. Because of Bill, I found my place. I have never met anyone with so many attributes. I have never respected and admired anyone more than Bill.
He is an intensely emotional and painful loss for me.
I love him. Before Bill, I never had a big brother.
