Vonda Sue Carlton's Obituary
Vonda Sue Carlton, 82 of Myakka City, Florida peacefully passed away on August 13, 2025 in Lakeland. Vonda was born in Appling County, GA to the late Winnie B. Herndon and Clestine Tyre Herndon. At the age of two their family moved to Florida. She was raised by her mother Clestine Bowen and step-father R. Leslie Bowen in Highland City where she remained a resident of the quaint community for many years. Vonda was a charter and faithful member of First Community Church of Highland City.
Vonda was an avid reader and found a great interest in historical fiction. She doted on her grandchildren and spread love throughout her family. Her abilities in the kitchen were soulful and nurturing, especially chicken and dumplings and chili. Vonda was the essence of June Cleaver in reality and cared for her family in like manner.
Vonda is lovingly survived by her husband of 62 years, Roland Carlton. Daughters, Susan C. Hall and her husband Keith, Abby Murphy and her husband Richard; grandchildren, J.J. Hall (Helen), Sarah Phillips; great-grandchildren, Eloise Hall, Cohen Phillips and a sister, Vernica Reynolds.
