VIRGINIA ANN DOBBERSTEIN, 91
LAKELAND
Virginia Ann Dobberstein, 91, died of respiratory failure, surrounded by her family, at her home on April 20, 2014. She was born in LaSalle, Illinois, on January 14, 1923. She was the first born of parents Anna and Stanley Washkowiak and graduated from LaSalle-Peru High School in 1940. She started a career at Westclox where she met her loving husband Arthur and they were married on November 8, 1948. They resided in LaSalle until they moved to Lakeland, Florida in 1980. Virginia and Arthur loved to travel and visited Aruba, Jamaica and the Caribbean Islands as well as many locations in the states. One of their favorite destinations was Las Vegas. Virginia loved tending to her flowers and plants. Violets were her specialty and they were beautiful. Mrs. Dobberstein was predeceased by her parents and her husband of 59 years, Arthur.
She is survived by her two daughters, Cathy Hall of Lakeland, FL and Cynthia Alger of Morris, IL; son, David Dobberstein of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; grandchildren, Michael, Shaun, Melissa and Shannon; 6 great grandchildren; brother, Leonard Washkowiak of Peru, IL.
She will be deeply missed by all.
Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Wed. at 11 am at The Church of the Resurrection. Burial will be beside her husband in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory in Brevard, NC.
