Lakeland – Violet A. Karakitsoo, 94, passed away peacefully Aug. 6, 2016.
Violet was born in Minneapolis, MN on July 13, 1922, to the late Alex and Martha Karos. She came to Lakeland in 1963. She worked at GTE and was a member of St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church. Violet was also a member of the National Women’s Republican League where she was a Past Republican Woman of the Year. Violet was known for her laughter and smile and loved hosting her many friends and family in her home.
Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Antonion “Tony” Karakitsoo; brother, Peter Karos; sister, Toni Boosalis; son in law, Stephen Sly; brothers in law, George and Connie Karakitsoo, and George Youtsos. She is survived by her daughters, Nikki (David) Stone and Pamela Sly; grandchildren, Ashli (Corey) Perkins and Ami (John) Dieterle; great grandchildren, Alexi and Mallori Perkins; sister, Pauline Youtsos, sister in law, Artie Karos; brother in law, Bill Boosalis, cousin, John Karos, special friends, Don and Sandie DePianta; 9 loving nieces and nephews; and many other extended family and friends.
Services were conducted privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 3470 Lakeland Hills Blvd, Lakeland Fl. 33805 or St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church, 1040 Bradbury Rd. Winter Haven, Fl. 33880.
