Tong Ger Vang's Obituary
Tong Ger Vang
Tong Ger Vang, a loving and devoted husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and great grandfather went home to be with the Lord on March 19, 2025, in Riverview, Florida, at the age of 78. He was born on March 5, 1947, in Xieng Khoung, Laos.
He married Ka Hang, the love of his life and his greatest blessing. Together, they raised 11 children: CherKou, May Gnia, May Pang, SongFue, Mary, Ce, WangPeter, Mey, XayTou, Sai, and TongChao. He also lovingly raised five children from his older brother: YouKao, ChongNeng, Zang, Chuedon, and Lue.
With the support of a sponsorship, Tong Ger moved his family from Thailand to the United States, settling in Minnesota. There, he established a new life and worked as a maintenance technician at Century College. Though his work was humble, it was marked by perseverance and an unshakable devotion to his family’s well-being. While his career sustained his family, it was his faith that truly defined him. Church was not merely a place he attended—it was the center of his life, his calling, and his passion. As a young adult, he labored to plant churches, lead congregations, and ensure that every community had a space where faith could flourish.
Just as he poured his heart into serving the church, he cherished his family with equal favor. His wife stood beside him as a true partner in faith and life. Together, they built not just a home, but a legacy grounded in love, spiritual devotion, and deep trust in God’s goodness.
In 2003, he retired and moved to Altamonte Springs, Florida. There, he embraced a slower pace of life, discovering new hobbies such as fishing, hunting, and selling produce at the local farmer’s market. He and his wife found peace in the beauty of nature and in quiet reflection, always grateful for God’s provision and the joy in life’s simple pleasures.
In 2021, a stroke brought unforeseen challenges and shifted the rhythm of his days. For a man who had long been strong and independent, this was a difficult transition. Yet, his faith never faltered. Even in weakness, he drew strength from God and from the constant love and care of his family.
Celebration of life service will be held on May 3 & May 5, 2025, at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Homes-Serenity Gardens Chapel.
The reception is held at Sunshine Hmong Alliance Church.
