LAKELAND - Major Tom M. Louie, 73, of Lakeland, passed away Nov. 7, 2014, due to a long battle with several illnesses. Tom was born in Anniston, Alabama, and served in the United States Marine Corps from 1958-1962. He spent his 37 year career as an Officer with The Salvation Army, serving as pastor of the Lakeland Church in 1976. Major Tom Louie retired from The Salvation Army in 2004. During his career with The Salvation Army, he touched many lives, bringing many lost souls to Christ. He was passionate and completely devoted to serving our Savior. Even during his time of sickness he witnessed to staff and patients in the hospital. When he could, he would walk the halls and pray with anyone that he came in contact with. His Bible was always by his side. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret Ann Louie; his son Tom Jr. and his wife Virginia; daughters Laura Ann Schindler and her husband Todd, and Kelly Williams and her husband Leon; a sister Katherine Aguero; eight grandchildren and a great grandson. Friends are invited to the visitation being held on Tuesday, Nov. 11 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the Salvation Army Church, Kathleen Rd. in Lakeland with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Serenity Gardens. Donations or contributions in Major Louie's name may be made to the Salvation Army.
