I lost a childhood best friend today. I lost the Best Man at my wedding today. To Cindi and the entire family, please accept my heartfelt condolences and sympathy. Paul, Mitch and I were inseparable in our high school days. What one did, the other two followed! Like Mitch said, we were the "Three Sticks of Dynamite"! Unfortunately as we grow older, we become separable and begin our own lives. I am saddened beyond words to know that I will never be able to re-connect with Paul and to attempt to mend the gap that time brought upon us. I am though, happy to see that my friend lived a rich and meaningful life and that he was able to bring life, joy, love and happiness to his entire family and those around him. I learned of Paul's passing this morning and was devastated by the news. Paul and I had lost contact over the years, but he will always be one of my best childhood friends and "partners in crime". I had always hoped that he and I would find a way to reconnect. Our high school band director, Phil Wharton, always referred to Ben Stalvey, Paul, and myself as "three sticks of dynamite". Those were good times and I'll always cherish them. How ironic that Paul and his family moved from Northern California to Lakeland, and I find myself living where the Thompsons moved from.
