Shirley Ann Orr's Obituary
Winter Haven, Florida – Shirley Orr passed away Tuesday April 9, 2024, at Oak Haven Nursing & Rehab Center in Auburndale, Florida. She was born July 1, 1934, in Warren, Ohio to the late Sherrill & Olive Green. Shirley spent most of her life in Warren, Ohio where she first met her childhood sweetheart Clarence. They eventually married and built a wonderful life together raising their two children. Clarence was a United States Army Veteran.
In Shirley’s high school days, she was an exceptionally good athlete and was 4-year lettermen in both softball and basketball. Throughout her life, Shirley continued to love and enjoy watching her husband, and then her son play baseball, as well as remaining an avid fan of her favorite professional baseball teams.
Shirley enjoyed working as a grocery clerk earlier in her career at Value King, which later became Giant Eagle. She took pride in knowing her regular customers and cared about their lives. She ended her career in the Bakery Department prior to retirement. Shirley never met a stranger, and she took an interest in everyone she met.
In her leisure time, Shirley loved country and gospel music, her favorite soap operas, and enjoyed decades long friendships through her women’s card club. During retirement years, she helped with creating crafts to sell at festivals with her husband. She and Clarence enjoyed traveling and were Florida snowbirds for many years. Shirley loved visiting with her two adult children and grandchildren, and then eventually her great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years (Clarence), her parents (Sherrill and Olive Green) and her brother (Robert Green). Left for Shirley’s memory are her children: Diane Chlebowy (Bill) of Lexington, Kentucky, and Daniel Orr (Carolyn) of Winter Haven, Florida. She leaves grandchildren: Katherine Pope (Kevin), Corrin Ryan (Patrick), Rachael Ellis (Jake), Lindsay Ellis (Jantzen), Jordan Chlebowy, Justin Chlebowy, Conner Chlebowy, and great-grandchildren: (Mary, Charles, Callahan, Rory,
Caleb, Delaney, and Annie) and numerous nieces & nephews. Shirley will be dearly missed by her family,friends, neighbors, and those she touched at Oak Haven Rehab & Nursing Center. Shirley will be remembered by all as one of the most loving, caring, generous persons God could have put on this earth, and will be missed by all. She now walks with her loved ones in heaven in peace!
