Sharon and I met as next door neighbors in 1967. We each had a 4 year old son who played together almost daily. As Coast Guard wives, we each moved many times. We next got together back in Elizabeth City as single parents. Now our youngest are in school and Boy Scouts together. We became fast friends. We had fun together during good times and helped each other during bad times. I remember one of the freezerees. That was a Boy Scout winter campout. After we got the boys packed and off, it started to snow. Sharon called me about 2 am. “We have to go get the boys. They’ll freeze to death. “. I convinced her through several phone calls that night that they were probably chasing each other around the campfire. Besides, the boys will be so embarrassed if their mothers show up to take them home! She finally agreed. Needless to say, the boys survived. Later I set up her first date with Fred that blossomed into true love. Fred was a good friend and coworker. Great to see two wonderful friends happy. I was planning to visit in Florida this winter. I can only sum up that it was a great privilege to have such a special friend for so many years. You just knew she would always be there for you. Thank you Sharon.
