Samuel "Sam" Edgar Duncan's Obituary
Lakeland-Samuel “Sam” Edgar Duncan, 67, joined his beloved father, mother and brothers in Heaven on March 7, 2024. Sam was born on January 5, 1957, at Eglin Air Force Base, Walton County, Florida, to the late Byron C. and Nona B “Dinah” Duncan. He is preceded in death by his brothers Robert “Rob” Duncan and Byron “Gene” Duncan.
Sam moved to Lakeland, Florida with his family in 1966. He attended Lime Street and Crystal Lake Elementary schools, Crystal Lake Junior High School, and Lakeland High School, where he played for the Lakeland Dreadnaughts. Sam graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now University of Louisiana at Lafayette) the Ragin Cajuns. He was a retired Millwright out of the Tampa Local 1000, which took him to job sites across the country. He was an adventurer, traveler, sportsman, who loved to golf, hunt and fish, and tell endless stories about his experiences along the way.
Sam is survived by his beloved wife Emily Duncan, his sister Barbara Ann “Sis” Reynolds and brother-in-law Ralph “RJ” Reynolds; niece Sunday Register and husband Marc; great-niece Alexis Fulayter and husband Lyle; great-nephews Ethan Register and Logan Register; great-great-nieces Lilah and Junie B Fulayter; and sister-in-law Robin Duncan, all of Lakeland, along with many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and special friends, and fur baby Maggie.
A Celebration of His Life will be held at Crestview Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 615 Old Polk City Road, Lakeland, Florida 33809, on Friday, March 15, 2024, at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sam’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital or the church or charity of your choice.
