LAKELAND – Mr. Roy Harold Welch went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 23, 2015.
He was born on March 7, 1924 to Ora and Rosa Welch in Trimble County, KY. Roy and his wife moved to Florida in 1995, after he retired from the Post Office. He was an Army veteran serving in WWII, earning a Purple Heart after 5 major battles. He was a Sunday school teacher and deacon at N. Madison Baptist Church. Roy was currently a member of Lake Gibson Church of Nazarene. His hobbies included playing pool and poetry writing. Roy had a great love for his family the Lord Jesus Christ.
Roy was preceded in death by his son, Lonnie D. Welch and brother, Lawrence Welch. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Ruth Welch; daughters, Sondra Jo Ayler and son in law Fred, Deborah Jeanine Welch and LuAnn Earls and son in law Mike; daughter in law, Linda Welch Hawsey; 10 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, 3350 Mall Hill Drive, Lakeland. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday 10:00 am at the funeral home chapel.
