Roger Lee McComas' Obituary
Roger Lee McComas, 78, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2025, surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born on May 18, 1946, in Huntington, West Virginia, to his loving parents, Doris and Herman McComas. Roger grew up with family as the cornerstone to his life being one of eleven children. From an early age, he developed a deep sense of service to others, always offering a helping hand, an open heart, and his signature smile.
Roger's family relocated from West Virginia to Columbus, Ohio, where he spent much of his childhood and early adulthood before moving to Central Florida. He dedicated 40 years to his career as a meat cutter with Publix and Kash n' Karry, making lifelong friendships along the way. He was always ready to help those in need and his gift for making friends was unparalleled. He never met a stranger.
Roger attended Ardella Baptist Church in Lakeland. In his retirement, he enjoyed traveling extensively with his beloved wife of 22 years, Cheryl. Whether on a trip, a cruise, or planning their next adventure, they created many treasured memories together. Roger also cherished spending time outdoors and with his family. He loved the Lord and was looking forward to a heavenly reunion with his loved ones.
Roger is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl McComas; his children, Roger McComas (Rebecca), Patricia Cox, Brian McComas (Jaime), Stacey Ramani, and Kristen Cassady (Rick); his siblings, Joyce Ann Wiseman, Diane Atkins, Delbert McComas, Michael McComas, and Herman McComas; and his 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored deeply.
A service to celebrate Roger's life will be held at Redemption Church, 145 E. Edgewood Dr., Lakeland, FL, on Friday, March 7, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 am. Send any flowers to Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home, Southside Chapel, located at 1727 Bartow Rd, Lakeland FL 33801. They are assisting the family at this time.
