Robyn Suzann Ruthven's Obituary
Robyn Suzann Ruthven, 52, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Lakeland Regional Health.
Robyn was a lifelong resident of Lakeland, born at Lakeland Regional Health September 2, 1973 to Robert and Susan Hunt. She graduated from Lake Gibson High School and went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of South Florida. Robyn devoted more than 30 years as a teacher for Polk County schools. She began her teaching career at Kathleen Elementary School, later teaching at Sleepy Hill Middle School and Kathleen Middle School, and most recently at Lake Gibson High School.
On November 6, 1999, Robyn married the love of her life, Donald Ruthven, celebrating 26 years of marriage last month. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and faithful daughter and sister, whose kindness, patience, and gentle spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Robyn is survived by her husband, Don Ruthven; their son, Collin Ruthven; her parents, Robert and Susan Hunt; and her sisters, Dana Holloway and Gina DeFeo. She also leaves behind many extended family members, friends, colleagues, and former students who were blessed by her life and legacy.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church in Lakeland. Burial will immediately follow at Socrum Cemetery.
