Robert Lyall Reid's Obituary
Robert L. Reid III, 67, a loving and devoted husband, father, son, and brother, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Houston, Texas, Robert moved to Orlando, Florida 50 years ago to attend college. Spending the last 37 year calling Lakeland his home.
A proud graduate of the University of Central Florida, Class of 1979, Robert built a life rooted in family, service, and adventure. He married the love of his life, Laura Erbel, on March 9, 1991, and together they raised three sons: Matthew, Kyle, and Justin Reid. Robert was also cherished by his daughter-in-law Vanessa, his sister Carol Agner, brother-in-law Sam Agner, his mother Rita Reid, and his aunt Joan Nuss.
Robert’s passions were many and spoke to his love for the outdoors and an active life. He enjoyed hiking, sailing, swimming, waterskiing, snorkeling, fishing, and boating. He had a deep appreciation for classic cars, car racing, and football—especially as a loyal Buccaneers fan. He also loved reading, going to the beach, playing disc golf, and coin collecting.
A dedicated member of the Boy Scouts of America, Robert was involved in Cub Scout Pack 710 and Boy Scout Troop 106. All 3 of his sons earned the rank of Eagle Scout which he was very proud of them. He retired in May 2022, after 28 years as the manager of Advance Auto Parts, leaving behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and unwavering commitment to those he loved.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to All Children’s Cancer Center or Moffitt Cancer Center.
