Robert Paul's Obituary
Robert (Bob) Paul left this earth just before his 93rd birthday. A native-born Michigander from Detroit, Bob traded in his snow shovel for flip flops with a move to Florida in 1986. He was a proud member of a military family, serving his country with 2 tours of duty in the Army. As a Korean War soldier, he was awarded the bronze star, purple heart and many service medals. Bob continued his service to the city of Lincoln Park for 27 years and retired as a Detective Lieutenant. His successful police career - and proudest achievement - included the formation of the Downriver Narcotics Organization, credited with the removal of a significant amount of criminals and drugs from the area.
Bob also contributed decades of service to his favorite charity, Shriners Fraternal Organization, where he spent many years focusing on the virtues of the brotherhood, faith and family. Bob looked forward to baseball season every year and faithfully attended Tiger games with Sharon. His career and social engagements lead to a lifetime of treasured friendships, a lot of laughs and good times!
Bob was a sweet, sassy and compassionate person. He was strong in his beliefs, quiet and soft spoken but with a wicked sense of humor. With an ability that master gardeners would envy, Bob grew the most amazing roses and incredible palm trees.
Bob was born to parents Roy and Marlye, blessed with siblings Betty, Juanita, Orville, Hershel, Vernon Elden and Leo and many nieces and nephews. He celebrated 39 years of marriage to Sharon Stuart, officiated in a Las Vegas strip chapel. Bob was the proud father of two daughters Diane and Bobbie, grandchildren Robby, Danielle, Michael and Megan and great grandchildren Rowan, Alaina, Shyla, Diana and Isaac.
In his lifetime, Bob saw remarkable things happen in the world. Bob’s tires were well worn when he went to God, but his energy and spirit lives on in those that loved him and we will be forever grateful for his presence in our lives.
