Robert (Bob) Wilson Cuzzort's Obituary
Robert (Bob) Wilson Cuzzort, 73, passed away on March 27, 2023, in Lakeland, FL.
Bob was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to Roland and Lucille (Wilson) Cuzzort on November 1, 1949. He married Susan Rachel Fox, on June 6, 1970, and the couple enjoyed their lives together as his career path took the family to locations from Arkansas to the Carolinas, Georgia, and Kentucky, before moving to Lakeland in 2007.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Lucille Cuzzort.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Susan Rachel Fox Cuzzort; daughter Jennifer Diane Cuzzort; granddaughter Sarah Elizabeth Rachel Smith; grandson Jason Robert Smith; sister Carole Cuzzort Allan; and brother in law Gary (Darlene) Fox.
Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during Vietnam aboard the USS Piedmont. He worked in the furniture industry for over 30 years, serving as general manager and vice president at Haverty’s Furniture before retiring in 1998. After retirement, Bob soon realized he was meant to stay busy, and decided to go back to work. He started his own business in recycling equipment, Southern Recycling Equipment Solutions.
Owning his own business and the Florida weather allowed him to play golf several times a week. Bob loved traveling all over the world but his biggest joy was flying. He obtained his pilot’s license and became an avid aviator serving as Chairman of the Richland County Airport Commission, and was a past president of EAA Chapter 242 in Columbia, SC.
Bob was a beloved husband, father, brother, and uncle. It was his role as “grandaddy” that he cherished the most. His complete adoration of his grandchildren is mirrored in their love for him.
Services will be held on Friday, April 21st at 10am at Oak Hill Burial Park in Lakeland, Florida. There will be a gathering of friends and family at the home following the service.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (shorturl.at/kloBM) or the EAA Young Eagles Program (https://www.eaa.org/eaa/apps/donations/donationye).
He has slipped the surly bonds of Earth for the last time for his final flight West.
