LAKELAND - Richard A. Sivins Sr., 87, passed away at home on April 8, 2014, due to natural causes.
Richard was born in Detroit, MI, raised in Grand Rapids, and served in the Pacific with the US Navy during WWII. He then went to work for General Motors, and retired in the mid 1980s as an inspector after 34 years. He was a member of both the American Legion and VFW, both in Michigan and in Lakeland.
He enjoyed playing softball, bowling, golf, and traveling and loved being with his family. Richard was the life of the party. He also loved going to Canadian Lakes, Michigan on weekends and pontooning.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Julia, a daughter Doreen Pentecost and husband Gary, two sons Richard Jr. and his wife Peggy, and Joseph; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at a later date in Michigan.
The family has requested that donations should be made to the American Red Cross.
