RICHARD LOREN DEXTER, 80
LAKELAND - Richard Loren Dexter, 80, of Lakeland, FL, went home to be with his Lord on April 27, 2015. He is survived by his loving wife Maria Isabel (Daigle) Dexter; two children Michael (Joyce) Dexter of Murphy, NC, and Sheri (Greg) Bee of Kissimmee, FL, two grandchildren Justin M. Dexter of Dallas, TX, and Kayla M. Dexter of Denver, CO; several step-children, great grandchildren, three brothers, Jack (Bula) Dexter, Larry (Norma) Dexter, David (Sharon) Dexter; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Earl Barker and Virginia (Sprunger) Dexter, his first wife Mary-Joyce, one brother Gerald (Ruth) Dexter and granddaughter Krystal L. Dexter. After retiring from Goodyear Richard moved to Florida and became a residential building contractor. The past 10 years he resided in Lakeland where he attended Lake Gibson Church of the Nazarene. In his early years Richard was an avid water skier. In his later years he enjoyed dancing. He was well respected by those who knew him for his honesty, outgoing personality, and rice pudding.
The family would like to thank the health care staff of Good Shepherd Hospice who lovingly assisted with his care, pastors of Lake Gibson Nazarene and many friends who visited faithfully, and especially Maria, his wife of only two months, for her tender compassionate care.
A memorial celebration of his life will be held at Heatherwood Village club house at 1925 Harden Blvd, Lakeland, FL, on Saturday, May 2, at 3 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Benevolent Fund at Lake Gibson Nazarene, 6868 N. Socrum Loop Rd, Lakeland, FL, 33809.
