Norma Jean Gregg's Obituary
Norma Jean Gregg, age 90, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2026.
Norma Jean was born on December 4, 1935, in Lakeland, Florida, to Frances (Claridy) Levy and Lonnie Levy. A lifelong resident of Lakeland, she held a deep love for her hometown and community, where she built a life centered on family, service, and compassion.
Norma lived her life to see people laugh. She loved her family and enjoyed being a lifelong member of Lake Wire Church of God. She also spent many years and was an attendant on the Polk County Handicapped school buses. The kids loved to see her smile and laughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. Gregg Jr. son James Dennis Owens, grandson Joshua Dennis Pittard.
Norma Jean is survived by her children, Dexter Owens (Sharon), and Dana Black (Bill); six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at Oak Hill Burial Park on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
Norma Jean will be remembered for her willingness to listen and talk to anyone and everyone. She loved to hear the stories of your lives. She passes down her laughter and strength to keep moving on.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to VITAS Hospice, in gratitude for their compassionate care.
