Nancy Fisher's Obituary
Nancy Shepfer Fisher, 87, passed away on June 8, 2018, with her family by her side. She was born in Rochester, PA on May 11, 1931 to the late Harold & Etta Shepfer and raised in West View, PA. She was married to Donald Fisher on Sept. 10, 1952 and moved to Lakeland the same year. Nancy graduated Magna Cum Laude from Florida Southern College with a degree in English. She achieved many accomplishments during her 27 plus year teaching career at Auburndale Jr. High School, including head of the English Department and Teacher of the Year. She was an accomplished pianist & organist having played for over 50 years in various churches. She joined the Julia Berry Bennett Club, an organization that raised money for music students to attend college. A gifted seamstress, her passion was making custom christening gowns, children’s clothing, handmade dolls, and quilts.
Nancy is survived by her husband of 65 years, Donald Fisher; sons, Don (Betty) Fisher & Brad (Tami) Fisher; grandchildren, Donny (Janna) Fisher & Angela (Joe) Carey; great-grandchildren, Aaralyn, Elise, Lilah, Simeon and Jonas Fisher & Mildred and Gwendolyn Carey. She is also survived by her sister, Judy Markle. She is preceded in death by her sister, Naomi Jean Shepfer.
In lieu of flowers, please make donation to the Danny Thomas – St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in her name. A celebration of life will take place on a date to be determined.
