Mickey Lee Losinski was born on October 25, 1972 in Sacramento, CA to Camille and Bill Losinski. He was raised in Klamath Falls, OR by his loving mother. He graduated from Mazama High School in 1990. He went to Southern Oregon Uni Read Obituary
I am so sorry to have not had the chance to get to know Mickey well before he passed, and so sad to hear this. I have followed his work for some time, and he has done awesome scholarship and given some much to our field. He will be greatly missed. My heart goes out to his beloved family and friends.
Mickey was a teacher of mine back in 2005/2006 in Tampa. I am truly sorry to hear of his passing. He was influential and charismatic! To this day, I could never enjoy a Thom Yorke song or create any kind of art work without remembering his strong influence and the difference he made in my life and so many others. His family, especially wife and kids will be in my prayers.
Mickey was a colleague, we were in different departments, but I admired him, for many reasons. We spoke about art & graphic design on numerous occasions ( I have a degree in graphic design too) and also about battling cancer.
So this message is for you Lisa. My husband battled Kidney cancer for 10 years, I understand your role as wife and caregiver. It is a challenging role for sure. In my conversations and observations of Mickey, he was a great deal like my husband Bob, who also taught special needs populations and coached Football, Wrestling, and Track.
Take comfort in knowing Mickey influenced everyone around him and that you will be alright. It sounds as though you have strong support around you, let them help. I miss Bob every day as you will miss Mickey, but you will learn to live and move on. I am thinking about you and if you would like to talk with someone who has been in your spot (exactly), I would love to talk with you when you are ready, it helps me too!!

Mickey was a colleague at Kansas State University, and although we did not work in the same department, he was a member of a diversity committee that I chair, so I was able to enjoy his presence in a way I may not otherwise had the opportunity.
He was instrumental in bringing to Kansas State the "Call Me Mister" program he was familiar with from his time at Clemson. This program provides an opportunity for young men of color to earn their degree in teaching and enter the classrooms across the country.
This is the type of impact Mickey had on everyone around him. There are teachers in classrooms now as a result of his advocacy. Kids who will never know or even hear his name are directly impacted by his work.
Obviously he was super intelligent and artistically gifted. He was especially witty and added to every conversation...even when he wasn't saying anything, through his facial expressions, laughter, or silence.
I send my condolences to his family and close friends. He will be greatly missed but his impact will remain.
