I wish for Mike's family to find peace during this time of great loss.
When I was only a fledgling Project Engineer at Coreslab (Tampa) from 2004 until 2009, Mike Quinlan was my General Manager. Back in 2004, Mike had been working for Gate Precast in Jacksonville, Florida, and he was in the process of moving his family from Ponte Vedra, Florida to the Tampa Bay area of Florida to become the General Manager of Coreslab (Tampa). During that same year, I was also leaving Jacksonville, Florida to move myself and my family to Tampa, Florida to become a Project Engineer for Coreslab (Tampa). Although I was a Professional Engineer with 7 years of Structural Engineering experience under my belt, I knew practically nothing about precast concrete. With the help of the Engineering Manager (Chris Pfeil), the Chief Engineer (Dave Bracewell), and Mike Quinlan, I was able to learn and grow as a Precast Specialty Engineer. He was not only a leader and mentor to me, he was also a person whose character and integrity I admired. His sense of humor and positive personality were always disarming, and he had a way of exhibiting grace under pressure. The world needs more people like Mike Quinlan. He will be sorely missed!
Sincerely,
Sean Morris, PE
