Max Uzelatz, Jr.
Lakeland – Max Uzelatz, Jr., 80, passed away from heart failure Jan. 18, 2015.
Max was born in Gary, IN on Feb. 9, 1934 to the late Max and Anna Uzelatz, Sr. He moved to the Lakeland area in 1952 from Westville, IN. He played for the Detroit Tigers before being drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Max retired from Prudential Insurance Company, and was an avid golfer. He was a member of Lone Palm and Bartow Golf Course.
Max is survived by his wife of 51 years, Maxine Uzelatz; daughters, Michelle Stagner and Debbie Uzelatz; sister, Olga Adashunas; grandchildren, Lauren Uzelatz, Beau Stagner, Tyler Stagner and Garrett Stagner; great grandson, Stetson Stagner; and nephew, Joseph Adashunas.
Visitation will be Thurs. from 11-12 Noon at Gentry Morrison Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Rd. Lakeland. Graveside services will follow on Thurs. at 12:30 p.m. at Oak Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Tee of Lakeland, 1740 George Jenkins Blvd., Lakeland, FL 33815.
