Maurice (Maury) Carroll's Obituary
Maurice (Maury) Carroll of Lakeland, Florida passed away on September 08, 2024 at the age of 98. Born in Rossville, Georgia, Maury spent his formative years in Chattanooga, Tennessee, graduating from Central High School in 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy Amphibious Corps aboard the USS Bowers during WWII. After his discharge, he worked for the TVA for 4 years. At the age of 25, he began his college career, attaining his undergraduate degree from Carson Newman College and graduate degree from Western Michigan University. His professional career spanned 34 years in the South Haven, Michigan Public Schools - 6 years as a classroom instructor, and 28 years in a variety of administrative roles. He was a member of the Beacon Hill Fellowship Church in Lakeland. Survivors include daughters Joy (John) Geier of Holland, Michigan, Terri (Richard) Auensen of South Haven, Michigan, grandsons Brett (Kelly) Geier of Kalamazoo, Michigan, and Dustin (Kim) Fennell of Atlanta, Georgia and great grandchildren Clayton and Madison Geier. He was predeceased by his wife of 77 years Virginia (Tallant), parents, J.C. and Verna Carroll, and sisters Dorothy Tidman and Evelyn Lanham. Visitation will be at 10:30am on September 14th at Beacon Hill Fellowship in Lakeland with a memorial service following at 11:00am. A joint memorial for Maury and Virginia will be held at a later date in South Haven. Service can be seen on YouTube one week after funeral under Beacon Hill Fellowship.
