LAKELAND - Mrs. Mary Jo Surrency went to be with her Lord on February 2, 2015, due to respiratory failure. She was born in Samson, Alabama, on November 23, 1942. She came to Dade City, FL, in 1943. She had lived in Dade City and Cocoa, where she graduated from Cocoa High School. She lived in Plant City, FL, for years before moving to Lakeland, FL, in 1979. She worked for the Polk County School Board for years as a custodian. Mrs. Surrency attended Bethel Baptist Church. Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Opal Doris Ward; father, John D. Ward and brother, Rayford Wayne 'Ray' Ward. Survivors include her daughter, Debi Hebner; niece, Dana Lyn Ward; nephew, James Ray Ward; grand-nephew, Masen Ward; and a longtime best friend, Syble Cocozza. The visitation will be today (Thursday) from 6:30 to 8:00 PM at Bethel Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be Friday at 4:00 PM at the church.
