Mary Ann Putnam's Obituary
Lakeland – Mary Ann Putnam, 86, a longtime resident of Lakeland, passed away on March 10, 2016. Born in Freeman, WV on December 14, 1929 to Cletus E. and Lora Bailey, Mary Ann was one of ten children. She graduated from Bramwell High School in Bramwell, WV and attended college in Washington, DC. Mary Ann was employed with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and later with the Department of the Army. She married Lt. Col. Ralph D. Putnam of Lakeland on May 11, 1950. Mary Ann met Ralph in DC while he was assigned to Andrews Air Force Base. After Ralph’s retirement from the Air Force, they moved to Lakeland. Mary Ann became a cosmetologist and owned a beauty salon in downtown Lakeland for thirty eight years. She was a member of First Baptist Church at the Mall in Lakeland. Mary Ann is survived by her four children, Billie Lora (Terry) Edgemon of Lakeland, Joyce (Scott) Bunn of Winter Haven, David (Teri Lynn) Putnam of Jackson, MS, and John (Charlene) Putnam of Lakeland; 10 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday, 6:00-8:00 pm at Gentry Morrison Funeral Home at Serenity Gardens, 3350 Mall Hill Dr., Lakeland. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, 11:00 am at First Baptist Church at the Mall, 1010 E. Memorial Blvd., Lakeland. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Burial Park.
