Mary L. Harris' Obituary
Mary Lee Harris was born on December 6, 1922 to the late Charles and Annie Williams in Abbeville, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest J. Harris, her son Ronald ‘Steve’ Harris (Terecita), and her siblings Tommie Newman, Hattie Lamar, Aaron Williams, Charlie Williams, Willie J. Crawford, and Idell Glanton.
She is survived by her daughter Nancy Harris-Jackson (Kevin), her sisters Anna Ragsdale and Everie Williams and her grandchildren Dena Harris, Erin Rice, Henry Jones, Regina Harris, Justin Harris and Justine Jackson. She also leaves to cherish and carry on her legacy a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In 1937 Mary moved to New Jersey where she met her husband Ernest whom she married on April 3, 1949 and had two children Steve and Nancy. Together they established a business, Brothers BBQ, in Newark, New Jersey. The two later moved to Lakeland, FL where they expanded their business. Mary enjoyed being involved with the family business as well as baking and taking yearly trips with her sisters to different destinations.
Mary faithfully served Jehovah since the 1950s when she was baptized. She was a very devoted member who went to yearly conventions and attended meetings regularly. She opened her home lovingly to the students of the ministerial school for a number of years and hosted weekly bible study.
