Marjorie Louise DeBats' Obituary
Marjorie DeBats, 92, passed peacefully at her loving home, August 4th, 2023, on her Birthday. Celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 26th, 2023, at 11:00am at Edgewood Baptist Church, 403 E Edgewood Dr., Lakeland FL 33803
Marge was born August 4th,1931 in Richland, SC. She moved to Lakeland, Florida with her family at 1 year old and lived here for 91 years. She was a loyal and loving daughter/sister to her father JH and mother Elizabeth Melton, brothers Buck and Terry Melton. A loving, devoted mother to Cindy and Ricky DeBats and the love of her life, husband Chuck DeBats who all proceeded her in death.
Marge grew up in Lakeland attending Dixieland Elementary and Lakeland Jr and Sr High school. She was captain of the LHS cheerleaders in her Senior year, 1949 and went on to Florida State Women’s college. She was a retired schoolteacher from Pat Pierce Private school and substituted numerous schools after, along with volunteering with organizations, tutoring and helping the underprivileged learn to read. Marge was also a loving devoted housewife/mother of four children.
Most of all, Marjorie DeBats was a God living/loving faithful servant, and all who knew her, knew that it's one of the most treasured things that all of us left behind, will remember. If I can have the faith that mom had while here..............Glory Be to God
Marge is survived by her sister of the heart K Losson, Richard and children, Jan Speckhardt, Steve DeBats (Becky), Christian DeBats Clarke (Erin). 6 grandchildren and 13 Great grandchildren.
Marge/Mom will live in our hearts always. Until we meet again, we find comfort knowing that you are in God's loving arms. Soar high mom. Love you more xoxo
