LAKELAND - Mrs. Marilyn Magee Mathers, 75, of Lakeland, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 23, 2014. She died at LRMC as a result of complications following an aortic aneurysm repair. Marilyn was born on March 29, 1939, in Tampa, FL, to Wilbur 'Mac' and Margaret Magee who moved to Lakeland when she was 3 months old. She worked as a florist and owned her own flower shops in Lakeland. Marilyn was an acclaimed quilter who had her designs and original technique patented and published. She was an active member of Kathleen Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William 'Bill' Mathers and her son Keith Mathers, as well as her sisters Pat Bryant & JoAnn Thornton and brother Butch Magee. She is survived by her son Michael Mathers and wife Donna, daughter Taree Mathers Hodge and husband Keith. She had 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren: Crystal Mathers Tattrie and husband Andrew, Michael B. Mathers, Kaylee Hodge Barnes and husband Jordan, Kaleb Hodge and wife Marissa, Garrison and Sarah Hodge, Nathan, Emilia, Abigail, and Jonathan Tattrie, Alex and Dallas Mathers, Bryson & Annslee Kate Barnes and Levi Hodge. Marilyn was loved by many people and left a legacy of a strong and devoted family. She will be missed by all who loved her. A graveside service will be held at Oak Hill Burial Park in Lakeland on Tuesday the 25th (today) at 12:00 pm. The family will also be receiving friends for a visitation today from 4-6 pm at the Kathleen Baptist Church.
