Marie Gibson's Obituary
Lakeland – Marie Gibson passed away on April 28, 2016. She was born on July 20, 1930 in, Waynesville, N.C., to J.C. and Velma Whittaker. Marie married Arrie Gibson and they raised 5 children. She was a member of Haven’s Assembly of God, in Lakeland, where she played the piano. Marie also sang in a Trio with her sister, Carrie, and best friend, Betty. Marie also spent 14 years in a nursing home ministry. Marie worked as a seamstress for 30 years. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Marie is preceded in death by her husband, Arrie; daughter, Linda Whipple; granddaughter, Mindy Perry; and brother, Kenneth Whitaker. She is survived by her children, Jerry Lee Gibson, Arrie Dale Gibson, Debbie Burgner, and Robin Perry; step children, Shirley Gaylord, Martha Edwards, and Reva Waldrup; sister, Carrie Rhineheart; brothers, Bobby and Billy Whitaker; 11 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and 18 great-great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Friday, May 6, 2016, from 10-11 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11 am, at Gentry Morrison Funeral Home Southside Chapel, 1727 Bartow Road, Lakeland, FL 33801.
