Maria Luisa A. Rubin's Obituary
Maria Luisa Acero Rubin, 67, went to be with the Lord on December 15, 2024 after her long battle with cancer.
Malou as she was fondly known, was born on September 28, 1957 in Macrohon, Southern Leyte, Philippines, the youngest child to the late Lucia Moldes and Pablo Acero. She grew up alongside her four siblings. She attended high school at St. James Academy, Padre Burgos, Southern Leyte and attended Ortañez University, Cubao, Quezon City where she graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
As a nurse, she worked in Libya for 2 years, in Saudi Arabia for 2 years and Lincoln Hospital in Bronx, New York for 22 years before retiring to live in Lakeland, Florida.
Malou was a loving sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Her gentle smile, and generous heart made her an instant favorite among all who knew her. She had a passion for fishing, singing, gardening, and traveling. " Malou is a member of the Philippine International Christian Fellowship (PICF) and Terra Largo Bible study group."
Despite facing many health challenges in her life, Malou remained resilient and persevered through it all. She was a fighter till the end, and her unwavering faith in God was her strength.
Malou is survived by her beloved husband of 30 years, Alfredo, her siblings Felomina with husband Fred and Faustino with wife Norma, her nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
We will miss her dearly, but take comfort in the fact that she is now in a better place, free from pain and suffering.
