Margaret I. Wilbanks' Obituary
Margaret I. Wilbanks, 89, passed away on February 17, 2016. Margaret was born in Lakeland, Florida in 1927 to Floyd and Carolyn Willis. Her family moved soon after to Morristown, TN. After graduating from high school, Margaret worked in Oakridge, TN, for a factory that was revealed later to be associated with the Manhattan project. In 1947 she moved back to Lakeland where she married Edwin Wilbanks. They spent 27 years together and raised 2 sons. Margaret enjoyed several things, including playing tennis, volunteering at the hospital, and traveling. Her greatest pleasure was fishing. She is preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Wilbanks; grandson, Robert Wilbanks; sister, Polly Watkins (Ed). Margret is survived by sons, Val Wilbanks (Dorinda) and Vaughn Wilbanks (Judy); sister, Connie Freer (David); and grandchildren, Duncan and Lauren Wilbanks. A viewing will be held on Saturday February 27, 2016 from 10-11am at Gentry-Morrison Funeral Home Southside Chapel 1727 Bartow Rd., Lakeland 33801. A funeral service will follow at 11am at the funeral home,and a graveside service will be held immediately after the service at Oak Hill Cemetery. The family requests that donations be made in memory of Margret to the Florida Baptist Children’s Home at 1015 Sikes Blvd. Lakeland FL 33815.
