Marcella Reed Stewart's Obituary
Marcella Reed Stewart was born in Norwich, NY to Reed Whitfield and Medora (Hicks) Whitfield, November 18th, 1923. During her childhood she enjoyed country life in upstate NY and city life in St. Petersburg, FL. Marcella attended schools in both states but graduated in 1942 from Norwich High School.
Marcella welcomed 3 children into her life: David - 1945 (dec.) , Linda - 1947 and Dianna - 1959. She had 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grands and 4 great-great grands!
Marcie (as she was known) worked at Bendix Aeronautics Corp. during WWII. Through the years she has worked for, among others, Johnson Oil Corp., Kane’s Furniture, TipTop TV & Appliance Store and lastly, Spradlen’s Carpet In Winter Haven, FL, retiring from there in her mid-80's.
Marcie traveled across the US including many states out west, as well as states up the Eastern Seaboard and through New England. She put her foot in Mexico and has also visited Canada. Her most memorable trip was a cruise along the coast of Italy. From Malta to Rome with stops in between, she enjoyed it all. Topping it off with a tour of the Vatican and St. Peter’s Basilica.
Marcie has seen many world events during the past 100 years, both peace times and war, moonwalks and ocean explorations, many births and sadly, deaths. She rarely missed a birthday or other special occasion that she did not send a greeting. She also journaled daily and did throughout her lifetime.
