REV. LYLE MILTON HADLER, 94
LAKELAND – Rev. Lyle Milton Hadler, age 94, died peacefully in his home at the Estates at Carpenters in Lakeland, Florida, on Sunday, December 24th, 2017.
Lyle lived a long and satisfying life, 63 years of it with his wife, Helen.
Lyle was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, on January 25th, 1923, to Frank Mathis Hadler and Annie Sophia Hanson. He had a sister, Frances Alida Hadler Allen who preceded him in death. At age 4, his family moved to Ocala, Florida where his father worked in the dairy business and his mother ran a small general store/room rentals in their home. Most of the years of his youth were spent in Jacksonville, Florida.
He attended Southeastern Bible Institute (1948-51), Florida Southern College (1952), Middle Tennessee State University (1956-7), and Rollins College where he earned his B.A. and two M.A. degrees. He returned to Southeastern Bible College in 1965 as a professor teaching American and World Histories and Sociology. He was faculty advisor for numerous student mission teams and the Drama Department. When he and Helen retired in 1989, they enjoyed extensive worldwide travel together, some for pleasure, many as Missions and teaching trips.
Lyle was a faithful servant leader with a heart for young people and missions. He met and married Helen in 1952, in St. Petersburg, FL with the Rev. J. Bashford Bishop officiating. Together they followed God’s clear calling to pioneer two Assembly of God churches in Tennessee, Murfreesboro and Knoxville, depending upon the Lord for daily sustenance. During this time, two daughters, Sonja and Paula, were born. They pastored for three more years in Spartanburg, South Carolina, before moving to Lakeland, Florida, where he lived the rest of his life.
Lyle lived a life of faith that reflected the essence of Godly leadership, collaboration, and dedication. He did so with an extraordinary commitment to his students, his profession, and his Lord. His children rise up and call him blessed.
