Lionel O’Conner, 87
Lakeland, FL - Lionel O’Conner passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones with his favorite doggy in arms on March 6, 2018. He was born in August 1930 to Albert and Axzee O’Connor in Louisiana. He worked as a night press operator at the Ledger, in Lakeland, FL. After working hard many years, he retired in 1992. During his time on Earth, he enjoyed nature, flying, water skiing, and Corvettes. Lionel was a man of simplicity and was known for his ingenious ways of crafting something extravagant out of every day household items, especially coat hangers. He lived in Florida with his wife, Dolores, before returning to Louisiana in the late 1990’s. He returned to Florida in 2013, where he lived the rest of his days with his daughter, Jaimey; son in law, Terry; and granddaughter, Alexiah. Lionel was a humble homebody, and was his happiest at home with family enjoying a home cooked meal and playing with his granddaughter.
He is survived by his daughter Jaimey (Terry and Alexiah) Byers; daughter, Gerri Nash; son, Lonnie (Kay) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the SPCA or Cornerstone Hospice. Per Lionel’s wishes no services will be held.
