Lewis “Jack” Harrell, Jr.
Lakeland – Lewis “Jack” Harrell, Jr., 85, passed away June 13, 2015.
Jack was born in Lake Wales, FL on Jan. 15, 1930 to the late Lewis J. and Elma Harrell. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Jack remained a lifelong resident of Polk County, and retired from the mines as a welder. He was an active member at Bethel Baptist Church where he served in many different roles such as deacon and committee member. He loved spending time with his family, as well as hunting, fishing and farming.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Nancy Harrell; and sister, Marcile Thomas. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Carolyn Harrell; daughter, Lucretia Shelnut; sons, Stephen (Kim) Harrell and Mark (Vicki) Harrell; sister, Joanne (Larry) Houser; brother in law, Joe Thomas; 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tues. from 10-11 am at Bethel Baptist Church, with services to follow at 11 am at the church. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to Cornerstone Hospice.
