LeRoy John Winter's Obituary
LeRoy John Winter entered Heaven’s Gates on September 7, 2015 at the age of 84.
He was preceded in death by parents, John and Aline Winter; brother, Irwin Winter; and sister, Fern Lammers.
LeRoy is survived by his wife, Evelyn, of 42 years; 2 sons, Rick and Steve; daughter, Sue Kingman; niece, Joni Heersema; nephews, Larry Lammers, and J. Christopher Childs; sister-in-law, Jana Cauley; 9 grandchildren; and 5 great-nieces and great-nephews.
LeRoy was born June 6, 1931, Huron, SD. He moved to Seattle, WA, and lived in Pasadena, CA, before moving to Lakeland in 1968, becoming the plant manager of Industrial Brush Co.
He loved music, singing in the choir of Southside Baptist for over 30 years, and in barbershop quartets and choruses. He loved to travel, read, and make people laugh. He was an active member at Southside Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for over 20 years. He was past president of his Lions Club.
Visitation will be held Saturday, September 12 at 9:30 a.m. at Gentry-Morrison Southside Chapel 1727 Bartow Road with a Remembrance service immediately following at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests online donations to The Jesus Project or the American Cancer Society.
