Leonard W. Finney
Lakeland – Leonard W. Finney, 90, died Nov. 16, 2018.
He was born in Charleston, IL, on Nov. 21, 1927. In 1945 he began a 45 year career in railroading as a brakeman and engineer, working on the Illinois Central; the TP&W; the SCL (now CSX) and finally the Santa Fe railroads. He moved to Lakeland in 1998. He served a year in the Army from 1946 to 1947. His hobby was golf. He worked part-time at Lone Palm Golf Course where he met many greatly treasured friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Patricia. Surviving are his son, Wayne Finney of Creve Coeur, IL; his daughter, Judith Finney of Lakeland; his grandson, Aaron (Fiona) Finney of St. Charles, MO; great-granddaughters, Peyton and Dakota.
His arrangements are being made by Gentry Morrison Cremation Center. He requested no memorial services to be held.
