Buddy was a mentor and dear friend. When I first moved to Lakeland. Buddy used to pick me up on Saturdays for a couple of hours of tennis. Even though I was 25 years younger than Buddy, it took me three months of tennis Saturdays before I finally won a set from him! I can still see Buddy running down the football field for a touchdown as he outran men who were half his age!
And just as incredible of an athlete he was, Buddy was a Christian whose strong faith, amazing family, and his numerous friends meant the world to him! Buddy was a leader in our church and a leader of men who always set the right example for us to follow. I knew Buddy for 25 years and he never showed anger nor did I ever see him get upset. I also never met anyone who didn’t like Buddy or had one negative thing to say about him.
I will miss Buddy on a number of levels, but his positive Christian influence will last a lifetime with me! God bless his wonderful family! I look forward to seeing you, Buddy, and my own Dad when we are reunited in Heaven!
